What is GABA & Why Should I Take It?
GABA is one of our newest products here at Frunutta. We added it to our lineup of vitamins because of increasing demand. This is not surprising when you find out what it is and how it helps you stay healthy!
Before we begin to explain what GABA is, it is important to address what it is not. When we first introduced Frunutta’s GABA, people got it confused with the pharmaceutical product: gabapentin. This is a very different product that is used for pain modulation and controlling seizures.
That being said, we’d like to introduce you to GABA. The tiny tablet that could replace your craving for a glass of wine after a long, stressful day.
What is GABA?
Think of GABA as melatonin’s cousin. Many people know about melatonin and its benefits to promote better sleep in a natural way. Similarly, GABA is a naturally occurring amino acid found in nature that you can take to improve not only your sleep but also your overall mood and well-being. GABA (which stands for Gamma-Aminobutyric acid) is an amino acid found naturally in the brain. It functions as a neurotransmitter and works by blocking your brain signals and lowering overall neuronal excitation. Below are some of the most common reasons people like to take GABA.
What Does GABA Do To Your Body?
Scientists summarize that GABA’s role in the body is to reduce overall neuronal excitation in the brain and central nervous system, so your body and mind get some needed R&R. Frunutta’s GABA is easily absorbed under the tongue like all other Frunutta products. GABA is believed to have the following effects on your body when taken:
- Increases your sense of well-being
- Increased relaxation
- Relieves injuries/pain
- Reduced stress
- Improves exercise tolerance
- Improves mood
- Decreasing body fat, promoting lean muscle
- Boosts sleep
- Stabilized blood pressure
Many associate GABA also with positive results such as:
- High blood pressure. Some research shows that taking products containing GABA along with other ingredients can reduce blood pressure in people with high blood pressure.
- Motion sickness. Some research shows that taking GABA might slow the onset of motion sickness and reduce symptoms such as chills, cold sweats, and pale skin.
- Reduces premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms. Some people who take GABA find it can also help relieve cramps during their menstrual cycle.
